BRIEF OVERVIEW
Annually, the Board of County Commissioners and the State of Florida Department of Health enter into a standard contract for the provision of services by, and the operation of, the Hernando County Health Department. The services covered in the contract are for environmental health services which are organized and operated to protect the health of the general public by monitoring and regulating activities in the environment which may contribute to the occurrence or transmission of disease; communicable disease control services, which protect the health of the general public through the detection, control, and eradication of diseases which are transmitted by human beings; and primary care services, which are acute and preventative services that are made available to well and sick persons who are unable to obtain such services due to lack of income or other barriers beyond their control.
The Hernando County Health Department has submitted three (3) copies of the fiscal year 2023-2024 contract and fee schedule, effective October 1, 2023, through September 30, 2024, for the Board’s review and approval
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Upon budget approval, the budget amount in the Health Unit Trust Fund for Health/Contracted Services (1141-03491-5303401) and Aid to Gov agencies (1141-03491-5808101) for FY 2024 is sufficient to cover the total dollar specified in the contract. The total amount of requested funds is $823,000.00.

The Board is authorized to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 154, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached fiscal year 2023-2024 contract between the Board and State of Florida Department of Health for the services and operation of Hernando County Health Department, effective October 1, 2023, through September 30, 2024.
