BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has off-cycle grant capital funding available outside of the main annual grant award process.
The Hernando County Transit (TheBus) would like to obtain these funds to purchase twelve (12) 27-inch Ruggedized Intelligent Bus Infotainment Display devices and have them installed on the fixed route and paratransit vehicles. These displays will be used to provide service information, County announcements, and advertising.
TheBus presently has these displays on the fixed-route buses. The additional funding will allow the purchase of additional devices to the twelve (12) vans used for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and fixed-route services.
The total costs to purchase twelve (12) 27-inch Ruggedized Intelligent Bus Infotainment Displays is currently quoted at $93,916.00 under the current contract with Ecolane/Passio (Contract No. 25-P0195A). TheBus is requesting approval to apply for FDOT “off-cycle” Section 5311 funding in the amount of $100,000.00 to cover this purchase.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
If awarded, funding from this agreement would be adopted and budgeted by the Board.

The Board has authority to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board authorize the submission of the application to the Florida Department of Transportation for Off-Cycle Grant Funding (Section 5311) and authorize the Hernando County Transit Administrator to submit the application electronically and sign the required application and related grant documents. It is further recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached associated resolution.
