BRIEF OVERVIEW

On March 24, 2026, the BOCC approved award of Contract No. 26-C01237 to Wharton-Smith, Inc. for the Ridge Manor Water Reclamation Facility Expansion and Emergency Operations Structure Construction for $91,569,822.50.

 

The purchase order was originally issued for $91,569,822.50. Change order No. 2 in the amount of $1,382,400.00, would increase Purchase Order No. 26000606 to $91,451,463.78 and the contract total to $92,695,524.78.

 

Change Order No. 1 in the amount of -$1,500,758.72 was CPO approved on June 5, 2026, to reduce purchase order for removal of additive bid line for Construct effluent disposal pump station and to Owner Direct Purchase (ODP) the purchase of associated pipes. This change order reduced the Purchase Order No. 26000606 to $90,069,063.78. Purchase Order No. 26000687 to Core & Main was opened June 6, 2026, for the ODP Pipes in the amount of $1,244,061.00.

Hernando County Utilities Department has requested an increase for Purchase Order No. 26000606 for additional Gopher Tortoise burrows from the design survey completed October 2024 to construction survey April 2026.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended the Board approve Change Order No. 2 in the amount of $1,382,400.00 to Wharton-Smith, Inc. for Purchase Order No. 26000606, bringing the total Purchase Order amount to $91,451,463.78 and the total contract amount to $92,695,524.78.
