Contract With State Department of Health for Provision of Services by County Health Department for FY 2022-23

BRIEF OVERVIEW
Annually, the Board of County Commissioners and the State of Florida Department of Health enter a standard contract for the provision of services and operation of the Hernando County Health Department. The services covered in the contract are for environmental health services, which are organized and operated to protect the health of the general public by monitoring and regulating activities in the environment which may contribute to the occurrence or transmission of disease; communicable disease control services, which protects the health of the general public through the detection, control, and eradication of disease which are transmitted primarily by human beings; and primary care services, which are acute and preventative services that are made available to well and sick persons who are unable to obtain such services due to lack of income or other barriers beyond their control.
Florida Department of Health in Hernando County has submitted three (3) copies of the Fiscal Year 2022-2023 contract, exhibits and fee schedule effective October 1, 2022 to September 30, 2023 for review and approval.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Upon budget approval the budgeted amount in the Health Unit Trust Fund for Health/Contracted Services (Account 1141-03491-5303401) and Aid to Gov Agencies (Account 1141-03491-5808101) for FY 2023 is sufficient to cover the dollar amount specified in the contract.
LEGAL NOTE
The contract with attachments and fee schedule has been reviewed and approved for form and legal sufficiency by the County Attorney’s Office. The Board is authorized to take action on the matter pursuant to Chapter 154, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached Fiscal Year 2022-2023 contract between the Hernando Cunty Board of County Commissioners and the State of Florida Department of Health for the operation of the Hernando County Health Department effective October 1, 2022 through September 30, 2023.
