BRIEF OVERVIEW

Opioid Abatement Funds have been allocated through several channels.  The State appropriated the regional share for Hernando County and funds are distributed through Department of Children and Families (DCF) to the managing entities to provide services for that County.  Hernando County’s Regional Funds from the State Funds are to be funded with Lutheran Services Florida, Inc., d/b/a LSF Health Services.  

 

Opioid abatement goals will be monitored through data collection, data reporting and performance measures.   Those goals include:

 

                     Expanding the availability of treatment.

                     Support evidence-based service that adhere to the American Society of Addiction Medicine continuum of care.

                     Improve oversight of Opioid Treatment Programs.

                     Provide comprehensive wrap around services.

                     Support workforce development for addiction professional.

                     Support stigma reduction efforts.

 

In order to meet the goals and provide support Hernando County Housing and Supportive Services requested two positions, an Opioid Data Analyst to analyze, interpret and report program deliverables of old and new programs and initiatives; and a Resource Coordinator to connect individuals with opioid use disorders, substance abuse disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders to treatment, services and other resources necessary for recovery.

 

Requested information to fund the positions was submitted to LSF, Health Services for the positions, equipment, training, travel, etc.  Their purchase order agreement, Certificate of Debarment and Suspension, Submission of Information and Budget Detail are attached.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Funds in the amount of $56,844.00 are to be deposited into Account No. 0011-03721-3469001 to fund the two positions until June 30, 2024.   Additional funds will be added as DCF funds for FY 2025 become available. 

 

LEGAL NOTE

The Board has the authority to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairperson’s signature on the attached Purchase Order Agreement, Certification Regarding Debarment, Suspension, Ineligibility and Voluntary Exclusion Contracts/Subcontracts and associated budget resolution.
