BRIEF OVERVIEW

On March 10, 2026, Hernando County Utility Department submitted a request to the Procurement Department to piggyback the Equipment, Repair and Parts contract with Florida Sheriffs Association Contract No. FSA23-EQU21.0 (Hernando County File No. 26-P0270B) with Mid Florida Diesel, Inc., for the purchase of two generators with a contract expiration date of September 30, 2026.

 

Hernando County Utility Department submitted a request to the Procurement Department to utilize this contract to purchase two generators for the below locations:

 

                     Burger King Lift station $62,606.00 - 100 kW

                     Utilities Well #24 (Antelope Water Treatment Plant) $74,538.00 - 150 kW

 

The Chief Procurement Officer has reviewed this request for conformance to Procurement Ordinance and Purchasing Policies and Procedures.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Funding in the amount of $137,144.00 is available in the following:

 

Expense:

 

Fund: B411 - HCUD Water & Sewer Fund, Department: 200 - HCUD Administration, Account: 566350 - Capital-Improve Other than BLDG, Project: XC561 - Improvement Generators Water, Totaling $74,538

 

Fund: B411 - HCUD Water & Sewer Fund, Department: 200 - HCUD Administration, Account: 566350 - Capital-Improve Other than BLDG, Project: XC562 - Improvement Generators WW, Totaling $62,606

In accordance with Chapter 2, Article V of the Hernando County Code of Ordinances.

RECOMMENDATION

 It is recommended the Board approve the utilization of Florida Sheriffs Association Contract No. FSA23-EQU21.0 with Mid Florida Diesel, Inc., for the purchase of equipment, repair, parts and two (2) new generators for the Burger King Lift Station and Utilities Well No. 24 (Antelope Water Treatment Plant), in the estimated amount of $137,144.00.  It is further recommended the Board authorize the Chief Procurement Officer to approve change orders as they become necessary and required up to annual budgeted amounts.

 

Furthermore, it is recommended that the Board approve the utilization of Florida Sheriffs Association Contract No. FSA23-EQU21.0 (Hernando County File No. 26-P0270B) with Mid Florida Diesel, Inc., for generator purchases for County-wide department use. This approval will be ongoing until terminated. It is understood that purchases under the Advertised Bidding Requirement (ABR) will be performed by the Chief Procurement Officer.  Any County department purchase request that exceeds the ABR, will be presented as an agenda item for Board approval.
