Agreement with Florida Division of Emergency Management for Hazard Mitigation Grant for Fire Station Generator Replacements

body

BRIEF OVERVIEW

On September 23, 2025, the Board approved the application for Hernando County Fire Rescue Generators project (item 16361).  Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services, in coordination with Hernando County Emergency Management, submitted the application and was approved funding through FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP), administered by the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM), for Project ID 4828-014-R (244).

The project provides funding for the replacement of generators and associated transfer switches at Fire Stations 3,4,7,8,11,12,13 and 14. The existing generators and transfer switches at these facilities range from approximately 27 to 34 years old, have exceeded their expected useful service life, and require replacement.  Replacing this equipment will help ensure reliable emergency power and continuity of critical public safety operations during power outages and disaster events.
