BRIEF OVERVIEW

On November 7, 2023, Hernando County submitted a request for application for a second round of funding in the amount of $195,000 from the settlement agreement funds negotiated through the State of Florida Attorney General’s Office from Allergan, Pharmaceutical, Teva, Walmart and CVS Health lawsuits as a result of the opioid epidemic. 

 

Applications were received from the following providers:

Hernando County Fire Rescue                                                               $20,000

Hernando County Community Anti-Drug Coalition                                          $50,000

Jericho Road Ministries                                                               $35,200

BayCare Behavioral Health, Inc.                                                               $84,200

Operation Par, Inc.                                                               $193,275

LifeStream Behavioral Center, Inc.                                                               $195,000

 

The scoring committee, consisting of Veda Ramirez, Housing and Supportive Services Director; Helen Gornes, Grant Compliance Analyst; Grace Sheppard, Finance Manager; and Aaron Canter-Mason, LSF Health Systems Project Coordinator met to review and score all applications.

Based on scores received and the amount of funding, staff recommends the Board approve funding for the providers listed below totaling $189,400.00.

BayCare Behavioral Health                     $84,200

Jericho Road Ministries                     $35,200

Hernando County Fire Rescue                     $20,000

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Opioid Prevention activities funds are available in:

Fund:  1557 - Opioid Settlement, Department:  01557 - Opioid Settlement, Account:  5808201 - Aid to Private Organization.

 

LEGAL NOTE

The Board has authority to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

It is recommended that the Board review, approve, and authorize the Chairperson’s signature on the attached agreements.
