Approval of Hernando County Opioid Prevention Grant Awards - Round 2

BRIEF OVERVIEW
On November 7, 2023, Hernando County submitted a request for application for a second round of funding in the amount of $195,000 from the settlement agreement funds negotiated through the State of Florida Attorney General’s Office from Allergan, Pharmaceutical, Teva, Walmart and CVS Health lawsuits as a result of the opioid epidemic.
Applications were received from the following providers:
Hernando County Fire Rescue $20,000
Hernando County Community Anti-Drug Coalition $50,000
Jericho Road Ministries $35,200
BayCare Behavioral Health, Inc. $84,200
Operation Par, Inc. $193,275
LifeStream Behavioral Center, Inc. $195,000
The scoring committee, consisting of Veda Ramirez, Housing and Supportive Services Director; Helen Gornes, Grant Compliance Analyst; Grace Sheppard, Finance Manager; and Aaron Canter-Mason, LSF Health Systems Project Coordinator met to review and score all applications.
Provider’s applications received the scores below:

BayCare Behavioral Health, Inc Score: 306/360
LifeStream Behavioral Center, Inc. Score: 296/360
Operation Par, Inc. Score: 235/360
Jericho Road Ministries Score: 224/360
Hernando County Fire Rescue Score: 205/360
Based on scores received and the amount of funding, staff recommends the Board approve funding for the providers listed below totaling $189,400.00.

Opioid Prevention activities funds are available in:

It is recommended that the Board review, approve, and authorize the Chairperson’s signature on the attached agreements.
