BRIEF OVERVIEW

At the September 9, 2025 BOCC meeting, the Board approved the application for the Economic Development Administration (EDA) Disaster Supplement Grant Program in the amount of $13,600,000 for the Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport Critical Construction Project which entails infrastructure improvements to support job creation in the region.

 

On July 7, 2026, the County received a Notice of Award requesting that the Chairman electronically accept the award in the EDA EDGE system. Chairman Campbell electronically accepted the award on July 8, 2026. (Notice of Award No. ED26ATL0G0120.)

 

The EDA Disaster Supplemental Grant is funded at 80%/20% Federal/Non-Federal cost share. The total grant eligible project cost is $17,000,000, with $13,600,000 in EDA Disaster Supplemental Grant awarded.

OBJECTIVE A.1.1 Invest in the infrastructure needed for targeted industry recruitment and expansion.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Required cost share will be funded as follows: 

Florida Department of Transportation Aviation Grant Program $1,800,000

Florida Commerce appropriated funding $750,000

County funds of $850,000.

 

Funding from FDOT available in:

Fund: 4311 - Airport/Industrial Park, Department: 34299 - AP-Runway Conversion,

Account: 5666537 - CIP-AP Dsgn/Cnstr Txwys for $1,800,000.

 

County match in the amount of $850,000 is budgeted in the FY26 budget in the following account:

Fund: 0011 - General Fund, Department: 01551 - Economic Incentive, Account: 5909985 - Budget Res-Ded Ind Dev for $850,000

 

The State appropriation from Department of Commerce will be available once the award is accepted by the County and budgeted.

 

Associated budget resolution will be brought before the Board at a later date.

 

LEGAL NOTE

The Board is authorized to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Board ratify the Chairman’s acceptance of the attached Notice of Award. It is further recommended that the Board approve the Chairman to sign the Office of the Inspector General’s Fraud Awareness Training certificate.
