BRIEF OVERVIEW

On September 26, 2023, the Board approved Contract No. 23-T00040/AP Pre-qualification for Construction Services under $500,000, pre-qualifying firms under three categories, A-Public Works, C-Utilities, and D-Facilities, to provide quotes for County projects as needed.

 

On February 16, 2024, the Utilities Department issued a Request for Quote (23-T00040/AP Quote #5) for the Diaz Court Water Main Replacement Project and the Request for Quote was sent to all contractor’s pre-qualified for Category C - Utilities:

 

                     Deeb Construction & Development Co.

                     Goodwin Brothers Construction, Inc.

 

Both contractors responded to the Request for Quote:

 

                     Goodwin Bro. Construction, Inc., in the amount of $164,831.80

                     Deeb Construction & Development Co., in the amount of $187,434.01

 

Bids were reviewed and evaluated by the Utilities Department for price, conformance to specifications and the Bidder’s ability to perform the contract in accordance with the terms, conditions and specifications required and recommended Goodwin Brothers Construction, Inc., in the amount of $164,831.80.

 

The Procurement Department reviewed and found the quotes to be responsive and responsible.

 

The Chief Procurement Officer has reviewed this requirement for conformance to Procurement Ordinance and Purchasing Policies and Procedures.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Funding in the amount of $164,831.80 is available in Account No. 4121-07201-5304614.

 

LEGAL NOTE

The Board is authorized to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 125 and Section 129.06, Florida Statutes.

 

recommendation

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairperson’s signature on the attached Work Authorization to Goodwin Bros. Construction, Inc. in the amount of $164,831.80 for the Diaz Court Water Main Replacement Project.

 

It is further recommended that the Board authorize the Chief Procurement Officer to approve change orders up to allowable budget amount as they become necessary and required.
