BRIEF OVERVIEW

Hernando County Fire and Rescue has identified the need for a dedicated logistics warehouse to centralize storage and distribution of critical equipment, supplies and resources.

 

Parcel Key No. 1001454 is located at 7300 Winter Street, Brooksville, Florida, and consists of 106,158 square feet.  Located on this parcel is an existing warehouse which has 18,005 base square feet including office space for a total of 24,049 square feet under roof. 

 

Purchasing this property will centralize storage for fire department equipment and supplies, streamline distribution of resources during emergencies, and increase operational efficiency. Furthermore, this property is strategically located to support county-wide operations. 

 

Staff recommends the contract to purchase the property located at 7300 Winter Street, Brooksville, Florida currently owned by The Times Publishing Company for the amount of $2,400,000.00 be approved.

 

The Legal description is as follows:

 

                     A portion of Lots 15,16, 17, 18 and 19, Potterfield Garden Acres, Section “M”, as recorded in Plat Book 5, Page 66, Public Records of Hernando County, Florida, and all that part of the Southeast ¼ of the Southwest ¼ of the Southeast ¼ of Section 26, Township 22 South. Range 18 East, Hernando County, Florida, lying Northwesterly of State Road 50, Less the West 33.00 Feet thereof, which has been conveyed to Hernando County, Florida, all lying and being in Section 26, Township 22 South, Range 18 East, Hernando County, Florida, being more particularly described as follows:

 

Beginning at the Northeast corner of said Lot 15; Thence S44°59’22”E along the Northeasterly line of said Lot 15, a distance of 183.25 feet; thence S 48°03’10” W, a distance of 210.39 feet; thence S 71°33’31”W, a distance of 274.60 feet to a point of intersection with the East right-of-way line of Winter Street; thence N 00°30’47” W along said East right-of-way line of Winter Street, a distance of 357.08 feet, to the Northwest corner of Lot 17; thence N 89°59’35” E, a distance of 290.62 feet to the point of beginning.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

A budget resolution is attached for Board approval for CIP #112016.   Funding for the acquisition of parcel Key 1001454 on Winter Street and associated closing costs will be available in Hernando County Fire and Rescue in Fund:  1691 - HC Fire Rescue-Rescue, Department:  02491 - HC Fire Rescue-Rescue, Account:  5606101 - Land Acquisition.

The Board is authorized to act upon this matter pursuant to Section 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Board approve the purchase agreement negotiated by staff with Times Publishing Company, for property located at 7300 Winter Street, Brooksville, Florida, for the amount of $2,400,000.00.  It is further recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached Contract for the purchase of real property and authorize the County Attorney’s Office to sign all documents on behalf of the County necessary to close this transaction.  It is further recommended that the Board approve the attached associated budget resolution.
