BRIEF OVERVIEW

Hernando County Department of Public Works is preparing to extend the frontage road along County Line Road, from Anderson Snow Road to Linden Drive.  The planned expansion of the frontage road is expected to greatly improve traffic flow, enhance safety protocols, and support future development initiatives.  Securing the land at this point will help prevent potential cost escalations and guarantee better accessibility for emergency responders and the public.  This land acquisition will ultimately pave the way for completing the frontage road connection between Linden Drive and Anderson Snow Road, while also enabling future enhancements to County Line Road and Linden Drive.

 

Staff recommends approval of the attached contract to purchase property located east of Linden Drive on County Line Road, owned by Randall S. Harris and Pamela J. Harris, as Trustees of the Harris Family Revocable Living Trust dated the 1st day of March 2007, in the amount of $349,000.00. The legal description is as follows:

 

The Southeast quarter (1/4) of the Southeast quarter (1/4) of the Southwest quarter (1/4) of the Southeast (1/4) of Section 33, Township 23 South, Range 18 East, LESS the East 214 feet and LESS the South 40 feet thereof which has previously been deeded to the State of Florida for road right-of-way purposes, Hernando County, Florida.  Subject to easements and restrictions of record.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached Contract for Purchase with Randall S. Harris and Pamela J. Harris, as Trustees of the Harris Family Revocable Living Trust for Parcel Key No. 378718.  It is further recommended that the County Attorney be authorized to sign all documents on behalf of the County which are necessary to close the transaction.
