BRIEF OVERVIEW

Pursuant to Section 21-206 of the Hernando County Code of Ordinances, Emergency Management Director James Coleman will provide the Board with a report regarding the actions taken during Hurricane Nicole.

 

On November 7, 2022, Governor Ron DeSantis declared a State of Emergency in 34 counties in the State of Florida due to the severity and magnitude of Hurricane Nicole.  The State of Emergency was amended to include Hernando County on November 9, 2022.  A State of Local Emergency was declared for a period of seven (7) days for Hernando County, effective November 9, 2022.  Copies of the Governor's Executive Order and Proclamation No. 2022-02 entitled Declaration of State of Local Emergency are attached.

The Board has authority to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 252, Florida Statutes, Hernando County Code XII, § 21-201 through 21-210, and Executive Order No. 22-255.

It is recommended that the Board ratify the actions taken by Emergency Management during the State of Emergency declared for Hurricane Nicole.
