BRIEF OVERVIEW

Pursuant to Hernando County Mining Ordinance 93-13, Development Services has reviewed an application for a Mining Operation Plan Approval (“MOPA”) from Florida Rock Industries, Inc.  Florida Rock Industries’ Brooksville Quarry consists of 350 acres more or less and is located at 14556 Ponce De Leon Boulevard, north of County Road 476 and northeast of US 98.  The mine is currently operating under a Master Mining Plan Approval (“MAMPA”) No. 1382032.  The application was reviewed and determined by staff to be generally consistent with the approved Mining Master Plan Approval, Comprehensive Plan, and all other state and federal requirements.

 

The Board of County Commissioners, any affected person or agency has 30 days to provide written recommendations, comments, or objections.  All plans, documents and permits are readily accessible within the Development Services Department.  Section 19-32 of the Hernando County Code of Ordinances requires Development Services to notify the Board of its intent to approve the Mining Operation Plan.

There is no financial impact resulting from this request.

 

LEGAL NOTE

In accordance with Chapter 19, Hernando County Code of Ordinances, Mining Regulations, no action is required by the Board of County Commissioners.
