Naming of Airport Tower in Memory of Gary Schraut

BRIEF OVERVIEW
At the Board of County Commissioners Meeting of October 10, 2023, the Board gave direction to start the process for naming the Airport Tower located at 2878 Control Tower Drive.
In accordance with Policy 31-01, a notice was published inviting the public to submit names for consideration. The Names Selection Committee has reviewed those submittals and voted to recommend to the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners a list of names of options for consideration.
The Honorary Recognition of the Airport Tower will not change the name of the control tower for air traffic communication or Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) publication purposes. A plaque would be put up at the entrance of the control tower. The Airport Tower will still be known as the Brooksville Tower.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended the Board discuss the recommendation from the Names Selection Committee and authorize naming of the airport tower pursuant to Policy No. 31-01.
