BRIEF OVERVIEW

The funding being awarded from the Emergency Preparedness and Assistance (EMPA) Grant is intended to enhance County Emergency Management plans and programs that are consistent with the State Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan and Program (reference Rule Chapter 9G-6), Florida Administrative Code and Chapter 252 Florida Statutes. Hernando County must certify that these funds will be used to enhance the Emergency Management Program and complete the work items approved by the Division and Scope of Work included in the agreement.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

An increase in revenue to the annual EMPA State Grant # in the amount of $105,806.00 (State FY 2023-2024).  Per Rule Chapter 27P-6, Base Grants are matched at an amount either equal to the average of the previous three year's level of county general revenue funding of the County Emergency Management Department or the level of funding for the County Emergency Department for the last fiscal year, whichever figure is lower. Each county shall certify compliance with this rule chapter and this rule, as a condition precedent to receipt of funding.

The Board is authorized to act on this matter pursuant to Chapters 125 and 252, Florida Statutes.

It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached State-Funded Grant Agreement No. A0357 and associated budget resolution.
