body

BRIEF OVERVIEW

The Department of Management Services has announced the Fall 2023 Florida E911 State Grant Program application funding period.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office is asking for approval to submit an application to provide Hernando County, as a part of Florida Region 4, managed services to aggregate local GIS datasets into a regional NG9-1-1 GIS repository that meets NENA requirements and includes GIS layers required to implement and support NG9-1-1 functional elements, following the NENA NG9-1-1 GIS Data Model. The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office will be applying for approximately $478,385. There is no required match.

The application is still in the early stages of writing at this time. Due to the application deadline of November 29, 2023, we are requesting that the Board authorize the Sheriff’s Office to submit an application for funding.  If the grant is awarded, documentation will be presented to the Board at that time for acceptance.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

No financial impact at this time. If awarded the grant, there will be an increase in revenue to the grant department.

LEGAL NOTE

The Board has the authority to act on this matter pursuant Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.
