BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Local Mitigation Planning Policy requires local governments to update their mitigation plans every five years. Hernando County’ s current Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS) will expire on September 14, 2025. The LMS is required for the County to apply for various Federal and State grant programs.
At the January 9, 2024, Board meeting, Tampa Bay Reginal Planning Council was approved to conduct the Hernando County Vulnerability Assessment including Brooksville in connection with the Resilient Florida Program. This assessment includes a review of the current LMS.
Emergency Management is requesting that the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council (TBRPC) perform the LMS five-year update. This update will be brought to the Board for final approval.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funding in the amount of $75,000.00 is the FY25 Budget in Fund: 0011 - General Fund, Department: 02401 - General Fund- Emergency Management, Account: 5303401 - Contracted Services

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairperson’s signature on the attached Professional Services Agreement with Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council for $75,000.00.
