Acceptance of FY 2025-26 State Department of Health Emergency Medical Services Grant Funds for Improvement and Expansion of Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Services and Associated Budget Resolution

BRIEF OVERVIEW
Florida State Emergency Medical Services (EMS) funds are derived from surcharges levied on fines for various traffic violations. The Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services is authorized by Chapter 401, Part 11, Florida Statutes to distribute these funds to county governments and their emergency medical services providers. The goal of the program is to improve and expand pre-hospital emergency medical services.
The Florida Department of Health has made internal updates to their processes for this grant and are no longer requiring an application or a Memorandum of Understanding. The Florida Department of Heath will be sending each county their allotment quarterly for the counties to track expenditures. The County will continue to monitor the spending of the funds utilizing the Grants Management System and will continue to perform a single audit each year. Reporting to the State Department of Health will no longer be necessary for expenditures. The distribution for FY26 is $25,833.60 which will be paid quarterly in amounts of $6,458.40.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board accept the grant funds and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached budget resolution for FY 2026 EMS County grant.
