Budget Resolution for US Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighter Grant for Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services

BRIEF OVERVIEW
In July 2023, the Board of County Commissioners accepted the award of the US Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) for Hernando County. The AFG program objectives are to provide critically needed resources that equip and train emergency personnel to help support community resilience. Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services has been awarded $68,181.81 with a matching amount of $6,818.19 totaling $75,000.00 for tuition reimbursement of eleven (11) paramedic courses.
The attached budget resolution is for FY 2025. It was anticipated to have paid for all classes in FY 2024; however, funding is still available through July 2025.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The Department of Homeland Security requires a 10% match of local funds. The budget resolution includes the following expense accounts:

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached budget resolution for FY 2025 US Department of Homeland Security assistance to firefighter grant for Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services.
