BRIEF OVERVIEW
Library Services is seeking approval to apply for the Do NASA Science LIVE! Mini-Grant offered by NASA, SciStarter, and the NASA Solar System Ambassadors program. If awarded, the library would receive a $500 stipend to support hosting a NASA citizen-science livestream event at the Spring Hill Branch Library.
The event would be a 60 - 120 minute interactive, NASA-supported program featuring a scientist-led demonstration and real-time audience participation, with materials and facilitation guidance provided by SciStarter. The library will provide space, WiFi, screen/projector, and on-site facilitation as outlined in the grant expectations.
The Spring Hill Branch has already completed a draft application identifying the targeted audience (teens and adults), community outreach plan, and selected livestream date of April 2, 2026 (2 - 4 pm ET) as part of Citizen Science Month.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
If awarded, the library will receive a $500 mini-grant intended to support event expenses such as materials, promotional items, supplies, and food for participants.
