BRIEF OVERVIEW

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is completing plans to remove the current Rectangle Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) and replace the intersection control with a Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (PHB) for the Good Neighbor Trail Crossing at Jefferson Street.  The FDOT is requesting the Board’s acceptance of this change before the project moves forward for construction anticipated to start in late 2024.  Hernando County will maintain the Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon once placed into operation.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

There is no financial impact associated with this item.  The PHB will be added to the FDOT signal maintenance reimbursement list recognized in the following account once placed into operation.

 

Account No. 1017-3449030 - LOGT 1-6 Fuel-General Transp., Fees-Traffic Device Maintenance.

The Board has the authority to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended the Board accept and approve the Florida Department of Transportation’s plan to remove the current Rectangle Rapid Flashing Beacon and replace it with a Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon for the Good Neighbor Trail Crossing located at Jefferson Street.
