Discussion Regarding Proposed Ordinance Establishing Hernando County Delegation on Government Efficiency (DOGE)
body
BRIEF OVERVIEW
At the February 25, 2025, Board meeting, direction was given to County Administrator Jeffrey Rogers to work with Commissioner Ryan Amsler and County Attorney’s Office regarding the language of the proposed ordinance and needs for the Hernando County Delegation on Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The ordinance would be loosely based on the attached document. Its purpose is for the establishment of an advisory council to review county government spending, regulatory policies, and governance structures to identify waste, inefficiencies, and cost-saving opportunities.
This initiative aligns with conservative governance principles of fiscal responsibility, limited government, and taxpayer protection, ensuring that Hernando County operates efficiently and remains accountable to its residents.
This item is scheduled to be on the April 22, 2025, BOCC meeting for consideration of approval. Discussion of the revised proposal is requested prior to the final version on the next agenda.
