body
BRIEF OVERVIEW
On April 12, 2022, the Hernando County School Board (the “School Board”) adopted Resolution No. R22-005, which calls for a referendum election to determine if the duly qualified electors in Hernando County, Florida, approve continuing the half-cent sales surtax currently levied to finance capital improvements to school facilities within the district.
On May 10, 2022, the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners (the “BOCC”) adopted Resolution No. 2022-95, which directed the Supervisor of Elections to place Resolution No. R22-005’s ballot question on the 2024 General Election ballot.
On January 23, 2024, the School Board adopted Resolution No. R24-006, which amends the sales surtax renewal ballot question that the School Board wants the BOCC to place on the 2024 General Election ballot for consideration by the voters of Hernando County.
The attached proposed resolution repeals BOCC Resolution 2022-95 and places the School Board’s requested ballot question, set forth in School Board Resolution No. R24-006 § 8, and placing the School Board’s requested ballot question on the ballot for the November 5, 2024, General Election.
