BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Board of County Commissioners on June 13, 2023, rejected a mediated settlement in the case Hernando County v. Hernando County Fair Association, Inc. (Florida Fifth District Court of Appeal Case No. 5D23-1060, Hernando County Court Case No. H-27-CC-1454). A part of that settlement would have also resolved Hernando County Circuit Court Case No. H-27-CA-2022-0338.
On August 2, 2023, the Hernando County Fair Association, Inc., proposed a monetary payment to settle the disputed amount in Case No. H-27-CA-2022-0338. This proposed settlement was considered by the Board in executive session prior to the start of its August 22, 2023, meeting. The Board must now conduct any action it wishes to take concerning the proposed settlement while in open session.
