Resolution Amending Non-Ad Valorem Assessment Rates of Municipal Service Benefit Unit for Fire Rescue Services

BRIEF OVERVIEW
Hernando County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services met with the Board of County Commissioners in a workshop on May 2, 2023, and June 6, 2023, to obtain direction for a Public Hearing on the increase of the Hernando County Fire Rescue Municipal Services Benefit Unit (MSBU) for fiscal year 2024.
As required by Florida Statute, a notice was mailed to every property owner in Hernando County and a legal ad was published on June 16, 2023, in the Hernando Sun newspaper.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The increase in fire rescue assessment is shown on the attached chart and the expected revenue from the assessment is estimated at $31,790,073 at 95% collection (allowing discounts).

The Board is authorized to act on this matter pursuant to Section 197.3632 and Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached resolution for Fire Rescue MSBU assessment increase for fiscal year 2024.
