Burning Services and Pre-Suppression Plowing Agreement With State Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Florida Forest Service for Lake Townsen Preserve

BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Florida Forest Service (FFS) Cooperative Outdoor Burning and Resource Assistance (COBRA) Team is no longer active; therefore, the County will need to enter into an agreement for prescribed burn services with the FFS. The FFS will provide personnel and equipment at designated hourly rates to assist a landowner while the land is burned. The County’s Conservation Lands Specialist is a Florida certified burner and will lead the prescribed burns on Lake Townsen with the assistance of FFS.
The prescribed burn area is comprised of 260 acres MOL (see attached map) and the area of the pre-suppression plowing is 25 acres MOL.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Service fees are listed on the attached agreement and have been budgeted for the Environmentally Sensitive Lands Program Fiscal Year 2024-2025 budget.

It is recommended the Board approve and authorize the Chairperson’s signature on the attached Florida Forest Service Burning Services and Pre-Suppression Plowing Agreement.
