BRIEF OVERVIEW

The Hernando County Utilities Department has been selected as the winner of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Southwest District’s 2024 Environmental Stewardship Award. The award was presented at the FDEP open house with several other local governments and utilities in attendance.

 

Hernando County has demonstrated proactive and measurable achievements that provide a direct benefit to our environment and that exceed regulatory requirements including the Septic Upgrade Incentive Program, various water conservation incentives and the encouragement of Florida-friendly landscaping to enhance ecosystems and reduce environmental impacts.
