Application for Subsequent Designation as Local Workforce Development Area for Pasco-Hernando Workforce Board

BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) requires that the Governor approve any area that was designated as a local workforce development area for the purposes of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998 for a two-year period provided the area performed successfully and sustained fiscal integrity.
Under WIOA, the Pasco-Hernando Workforce Board (PHWB), operating in accordance with WIA, was granted an initial designation as a local workforce development area. The initial designation was effective July 1, 2017 and will expire June 30, 2023.
Having performed successfully and sustained fiscal integrity for the two most recent program years, PHWB is requesting the approval of the Chief Elected Official of Hernando County to move forward with submitting a request to be granted a subsequent designation from CareerSource Florida and the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) effective July 1, 2023 and expiring June 30, 2025.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board grant the Pasco-Hernando Workforce Board’s request to move forward with a subsequent designation and authorize the Chairman's signature on the Application for Subsequent Local Workforce Development Area Designation.
