BRIEF OVERVIEW

Health and Human Services received two copies of the attached Low Income Pool Letter of Agreement from the Agency of Health Care Administration.  The Letter of Agreement is by and between Hernando County on behalf of Premier Community HealthCare Group, Inc., and the State of Florida, Agency for Health Care Administration (Agency) for participation in the Medicaid Low Income Pool (LIP).

Per Senate Bill 2500, the General Appropriations Act of State Fiscal Year 2023-2024 passed by the 2023 Florida Legislature, the Board and the Agency agree that the Board will remit Intergovernmental Transfer (IGT) funds to the Agency in an amount not to exceed the total amount of $150,000.00.  The deadline for submission of the agreement to the Agency is October 1, 2023.

The Board and the Agency agree that these IGT funds will only be used to increase the provision of health services for charity care in Hernando County and the State of Florida.  Per Florida Statute 409.98, annual payments for the month of July 2023 through June 2024 are due to the Agency no later than October 31, 2024, unless an alternative plan is specifically approved.

The funds for the IGT are allocated in the 2023-2024 budget.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Pending approval of the FY23-24 Budget, funds not to exceed $150,000 are to be taken from Account No. 1141-03491-5808101.
