Installation of Additional Street Lights Within Weeki Wachee Woodlands Street Lighting Municipal Service Benefit Unit

BRIEF OVERVIEW
In accordance with Board of County Commissioners Policy No. 16-1 relative to Municipal Service Benefit Unit’s (MSBU’s), a request for two additional streetlights was received from a resident within the Weeki Wachee Woodlands Street Lighting MSBU. The proposed streetlights will be installed on existing poles at approximately 4076 and 4100 Windota Avenue. There are currently 84 streetlights paid for by the MSBU; this addition will bring the total to 86 streetlights.
The rental cost for the two Type 205 LED Cobra 100W streetlights is approximately $10.00/month each impacting the FY 2025 budget approximately $20.00/month ($240.00 annually). Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative (WREC) has reviewed and approved the requested street lighting locations and has submitted the attached contract for Board approval.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funding to operate the additional two street lights for FY2025 is available in following account.

LEGAL NOTE
The Board has the authority to add streetlights to existing MSBUs in accordance with the Board Policy 16-1 and Section 197.3632, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairperson’s signature on the attached Authorization and Approval for Area Light Additions and/or Removal contract from Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative (WREC). Approval of the contract will authorize the operational costs of the additional street lighting to be paid by the Weeki Wachee Woodlands Street Lighting MSBU.
