body
BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Florida Department of Health awarded Hernando County for the Emergency Medical Services Matching Grant. This grant allows counties to apply for projects that provide or effect direct services to emergency victims, training projects, or other quality assurance, management or administrative needs.
Under previous grant applications, Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services has received funding for automated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) machines to support the busiest fire stations in the County. This award will allow for 11 units to be purchased. The City of Brooksville has asked to partner with the County to receive one automated CPR machine to increase the efficiencies of their Basic Life Support (BLS) functions. These machines have the capability to significantly increase positive health outcomes to those residents experiencing cardiac arrest.
The City of Brooksville has committed to $5,259.36 in total match funds for the purchase of the 1 unit requested; their agenda item as approved on January 8, 2024, is attached to this item. The total match is $60,000.
The total project cost is $240,000.00, with the grant award requested from the State being $180,000.00.
