Revision to Facility Design Guidelines by Department of Public Works Engineering Division

BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Board of County Commissioners updated the Hernando County Department of Public Works / Engineering Division Facility Design Guidelines on October 21, 2008. Since that time, there has been no other updates to this document. Staff has updated the document by revising the format and updating the language. The Facility Design Guidelines (FDG) provides for uniform standards and criteria for the design, construction and maintenance of all public roads and streets, medians, curbs, gutters, drainage structures and networks, driveways, sidewalks and curb ramps, traffic control, and commercial, industrial and residential development constructed in the County.
Staff has prepared an update to the FDG to help incorporate updated standards, reflect improved engineering and construction practices, and preserve and improve the County’s infrastructure.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve the updated Department of Public Works / Engineering Division Facility Design Guidelines, superseding the Facility Design Guidelines approved on October 21, 2008, with the revised guidelines becoming effective upon Board’s approval. It is further recommended that the Board authorize the Department of Public Works Director to electronically sign the approved guidelines.
