Reimbursement Agreement Between Hernando County Water and Sewer District and Meritage Homes of Florida, Inc., for Benton Hills-Kettering Road Force Main Extension Project

BRIEF OVERVIEW
Meritage Homes of Florida, Inc. (Developer) is developing a residential subdivision along Kettering Road south of the Walmart Distribution Center. Hernando County Utilities Department (HCUD) has sewer infrastructure in the vicinity capable of providing sewer service to this project. As part of the agreement, HCUD will reimburse the Developer for the construction costs incurred by the Developer to oversize the project’s sewer force main from 6-inch to 12-inch which is required by HCUD. The force main will start south of Morning Dove Road and run north to the lift station across from the Walmart Distribution (approximately 5,200 feet). HCUD will reimburse the Developer once work has been completed, inspected, tested and accepted by HCUD.

Funding is available in Account: No. 4121-07201-5626322- HCUD Renewal and Replacement, Improv-Sewer Line Upgrades.
LEGAL NOTE
The Board has legal authority to review and approve this item per Florida Statute, Chapter 125.
recommendation
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board, on behalf of the Hernando County Water and Sewer District, accept the Benton Hills - Kettering Road Force Main Extension Project Reimbursement Agreement, authorize the Chairman to execute the Agreement, and have staff record the Agreement in the Public Records of Hernando County. It is further recommended that the Board approve the attached associated budget amendment to transfer funds from HCUD’s reserves.
