BRIEF OVERVIEW
On September 23, 2025, the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners approved the grant award for the Emergency Management Preparedness and Assistance (EMPA) Grant Agreement No. A0552. This grant provides state funding to assist local governments in preparing for all hazards, as authorized by Section 252.373, Florida Statutes. Funds in the amount of $105,806.00 were allocated to implement and administer county emergency management programs.
No funds were expended during Fiscal Year 2025. In Fiscal Year 2026, only $95,000.00 was budgeted, leaving $10,806.00 unbudgeted and currently unused.
The attached budget resolution will true-up the grant budget, making the full $105,806.00 available prior to the end of the grant’s period of performance.

It is recommended the Board approve and authorize the Chairman to sign the attached budget resolution to true-up accounts for the FY 2025-2026 EMPA grant.
