BRIEF OVERVIEW

Due to the recent heavy rains, the Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI) has decreased to under 500 and has been forecasted for a higher chance of rain over the next several days.  Therefore, the Hernando County Fire Chief supports a repeal of the current open burning ban in effect for the unincorporated areas of Hernando County.

No financial impact.

 

LEGAL NOTE

The Board is authorized to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 12, Article VI of the Hernando County Code of Ordinances.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached resolution repealing the prohibition on the open burn ban within the unincorporated areas of Hernando County.
