BRIEF OVERVIEW

Walmart offers local community grants that are awarded through an electronic application process and provide funds directly from Walmart and Sam’s Club facilities to local organizations.  The amount awarded can range from $250.00 to $5,000.00 per application and up to 25 applications can be submitted electronically per year per organization.

 

Hernando County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services (HCFR) would like to actively apply for the public safety grants to assist our firefighters and paramedics serving Hernando County with training programs and purchasing updated equipment.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Each grant has a maximum available of $5,000.00 available with no match requirement and will not exceed $125,000.00 annually.  Budget resolutions would be submitted in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2024 for all awards for Board approval.

 

LEGAL NOTE

The Board is authorized to act upon this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services to submit the grant applications electronically on behalf of the Board throughout fiscal year 2024 and accept the awards, if received.  If grants are awarded, a budget resolution will be presented to the Board in the fourth quarter to recognize all revenues.
