Acceptance of Walmart Community Grant for Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services and Associated Budget Resolution

BRIEF OVERVIEW
As authorized by the Board of County Commissioners Agenda Item No. 11836, Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services (HCFES) applied for the Walmart Community Grant Program which is a local grant that provides funds directly from local Walmart and Sam’s Club facilities to local organizations. These awards can range from $250 to a maximum of $5000 and HCFES has been awarded funds from the Walmart grant. HCFES would like permission to accept the funds and permission for Chief Hasenmeier to accept any additional funding received through this program.
The current funds awarded will be used towards purchasing a thermal imaging camera and vehicle dash cameras for the Battalion Chiefs and Public Information Officer. Any additional funding that may be received will be brought to the Board by the end of the fiscal year.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funding will increase by $1,000.00 for Account No. 1661-1661-3669901 with no match requirement. A budget resolution is attached

The Board is authorized to act upon this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services to accept this award and any other grant funds received throughout Fiscal Year 2023. It is further recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached associated budget resolution. If other awards are received later, a budget resolution will be presented at the end of Fiscal Year 2023.
