Residential Lease and On-Site Security Agreement With Jason Reiff for Cypress Lakes Preserve

BRIEF OVERVIEW
Attached is a rental lease agreement between the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners and Jason Reiff to lease the security residence at Cypress Lakes Preserve. Mr. Reiff is an employee of Hernando County.
The lessee will be responsible for monitoring the preserve to prevent vandalism, criminal activity, and for the protection of natural resources. Since the County owns the house, there is a provision for a rental fee of $600 per month to cover the future maintenance needs and monthly security alarm monitoring. There are also provisions requiring documentation of routine monitoring and incidents (monthly monitoring reports) and implementing the County’s Environmentally Sensitive Lands Public Use Ordinance (2003-18) which prescribes provisions for additional protection of the property.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The rental proceeds are budgeted and recognized in Fund 1231-3620001. The value of the agreement is approximately $7,200 per year.
LEGAL NOTE
The County Attorney’s Office has reviewed and approved the attached lease agreement for form and legal sufficiency (LR # 09-205-12). The Board has the authority to enter into this agreement pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve the rental lease agreement between Hernando County and Jason Reiff for the Cypress Lakes Security Residence and authorize the Chairman’s signature thereupon.
