Request Submitted by Sheriff’s Office to Apply for E911 State Grant Through 911 Grant Programs

BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is applying for the Florida E911 State Board Grant in the amount of $603,979.04 over the course of two years. The HCSO will use these funds to upgrade the routing functions and increase redundancy to the 911 system in accordance with Next Generation 911 and National Emergency Number Association (NENA) i3 Standard. There is no required match.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Once awarded, the grant funds will be budgeted through the Sheriff’s Office Emergency 911 Fund with no impact to the Board.

The Board is authorized to take the recommended action pursuant Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve the Sheriff’s Office to apply for the E911 State Board Grant and approve and authorize County Administrator Jeff Rogers signature on the attached application after review from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for grants compliance. It is further recommended that the Board approve and authorize Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Accounting Specialist Jacob Lynch to submit the grant application electronically to the E911 Board.
