BRIEF OVERVIEW
Section 5311 Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) grant funding is available to eligible grantees for operating expenses associated with providing transit services.
The total project cost of $1,442,046 with matching funds of $721,023 from the Florida Department of Transportation and $721,023 from Local funding. Funding from the S5311 CARES grant will be used for operating contractual service eligible expenses. The local match source is the Ninth Cent local option fuel tax fund.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funding from this award will be programmed into the County budget for more than one fiscal year. The total grant is $1,442,046 with a $721,023 local match requirement. The Ninth Cent Fund is utilized to provide the required local match. To be budgeted in future FY’s GMS 507.

The Board has the authority to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached Public Transportation Grant Agreement (G2J81) and associated resolution for Section 5311 CARES grant funding for operating expenses for the fixed route transit services.
