Grant Agreement With State Department of Commerce for Relocation and Replacement of Veteran’s Monument Located at Veterans Memorial Park

BRIEF OVERVIEW
Hernando County was awarded $250,000.00 to relocate and replace the Veteran’s Monument located at the Hernando County Veteran’s Park in Spring Hill. The new monument will include the six branches of the United States military, will be ADA accessible, and will include sidewalks and benches.
The new monument is currently in the design phase. Hernando County has received notification of award and a grant agreement (Agreement No. HL228) for Board approval.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The grant will provide the County reimbursement by FL DOC up to $250,000.00 for the relocation and replacement of the Veteran’s Monument. The grant has a local participation requirement in the amount of $1,400.00 and any expenses incurred over the $251,400.00 agreement will be the responsibility of Hernando County. The local participation amount is available in Account No. 0011-04441-5606301 upon approval of the attached grant award. To be budgeted in FY24 budget.

It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached Florida Department of Commerce grant agreement.
