BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is applying for the FY2025 Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act (LEMHWA) Program Grant. The goal of this program is to increase the delivery of and access to mental health and wellness services, training, and programming for employees of law enforcement agencies and their families.
We are requesting funds to support training for the peer support team, books for our mental health library, education resources for all newly hired or newly graduated deputies, and bi-monthly support groups for affected employees.
Currently, the application is still in the early stages of writing. The grant requires both the Sheriff and the Board Chairman to electronically sign the application and, if awarded, the award package via JustGrants. If the grant is awarded, documentation will be presented to the Board for acceptance.
