BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Solid Waste & Recycling Division received an application for a commercial solid waste collectors license from Coastal Waste & Recycling of Central Florida, LLC, 12021 Hicks Road, Hudson, FL 34669.

The Hernando County Code requires that the Board of County Commissioners review the application and make a determination that the applicant has the ability to comply with the provisions of the Code, as may be amended from time to time. A public hearing is not required unless, after review of the application, the Board determines that a public hearing would be in the best interest of the public. Staff is of the opinion that a public hearing is not necessary.

Coastal Waste & Recycling of Central Florida, LLC has attested to the Solid Waste Department that Construction and Demolition Debris (C&D) and commercial solid waste will be collected and disposed of at the designated facilities. C&D may be disposed of at any facility approved by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for the disposal of C&D. All other solid waste shall be disposed of at the Hernando County Northwest Solid Waste Management Facility located at 14450 Landfill Road, Brooksville, FL 34614.

The tonnage of both C&D and commercial solid waste removed from Hernando County must be reported annually to the Hernando County Solid Waste & Recycling Division.
Additionally, the amount of material recycled from collected C&D, i.e., asphalt, concrete, brick, wood, shingles, cardboard, metal, etc., must be reported to Hernando County Solid Waste & Recycling Division annually. If the amount of material recycled exceeds 600 tons per year, Coastal Waste & Recycling of Central Florida, LLC must submit an annual Recycling Debris report to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and Hernando County's Solid Waste and Recycling Division ...
