Write-Off of Uncollectible Utilities Department Accounts

BRIEF OVERVIEW
At the regular Board meeting held on July 17, 2007, the Board approved a uniform write-off policy for Hernando County Utilities Department (HCUD). In accordance with Resolution No. 2007-197, the Utilities Director has authorized the write-off of the attached listing of accounts receivable totaling $19,190.03, all of which are older than 180 days and deemed uncollectible. All reasonable efforts to collect have been exhausted. Write-off amounts are attributed to various factors including transient customers, foreclosures, and bankruptcies. All reasonable attempts have been made to collect payment on these accounts.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Write-off amount of $19,190.03 is available in Account No. 4111-07091-5304975, Utilities Operating Fund, Utilities Admin. Dept., Bad Debt Expense A/R Account.
