Consideration of Request to Forgive Outstanding Civil Restitution Lien Order Filed Against Frankie Lynn Meyers

body

BRIEF OVERVIEW

On May 21, 2019, a Civil Restitution Lien Order (CRLO) was recorded in Book 3705, Page 701 of the Official Records of Hernando County, Florida against Frankie Lynn Meyers related to Criminal Case No. 13-CF-1704 for Possession of a Controlled Substance (a first-degree felony).  Said lien is in the amount of $18,200.00 and has been accruing judgment interest pursuant to Florida law since that time.  The interest owed to date is $6,266.99, bringing the total amount due to $24,476.99.

On May 20, 2024, Ms. Meyers asked that the CRLO including all accrued interest be forgiven because of financial hardship.  Her petition to the court for a reduction in sentence was denied by Judge Toner in March 2024.

Should the Board vote to grant the request, the Clerk’s Finance Division will be directed to issue Ms. Meyers a U.S. Internal Revenue Service Form 1099 in the amount forgiven and the County Attorney’s Office will sign and record the attached Discharge of Lien.

Neither the Board nor staff will need to take any further action should the vote be to deny Ms. Meyers’ request for forgiveness.
