body
BRIEF OVERVIEW
A State Funded Grant Agreement between the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and Hernando County has been received for funding of the construction activities associated with the Hayman Road from Twister Lane to Deepwell Drive Safety Improvements - Widening and Resurfacing project.

The funding for this project was applied for through the Small County Outreach Program (SCOP) in 2021. SCOP funding assists small county governments in repairing and rehabilitating county bridges, paving unpaved roads, addressing road-related drainage improvements, resurfacing, or reconstructing county roads, or constructing capacity or safety improvements on county roads.

Hernando County is completing the design of the project using in-house staff. The project will widen the cross section of the paved area of Hayman Road from 18 feet to 22 feet at the 90-degree curves to allow for safe vehicle movement from both directions while negotiating these curves. After widening the 90-degree curves the roadway will be resurfaced at the construction limits to increase the life of the roadway in these sections.

An associated grant resolution and budget resolution are attached to this item for the Board's consideration and approval.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
The grant will provide the County reimbursement by FDOT up to $363,750.00 for construction activities. The grant has a local participation requirement in the amount of $103,250.00 and any expenses incurred over the $467,000.00 agreement amount will be the responsibility of Hernando County. The local participation amount is available in the additional LOGT 1-5 Fund Account No. 1022-03241-5616306 (Improv-Roads & Bridges) and Account No. 1022-03241-590996...
