Transmittal of Letter From Florida Department of Transportation Regarding Closure of Eastbound Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard onto U.S. 98
body
BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Seven is currently designing safety and operational improvements along U.S. 98 (S.R. 50A/E Jefferson Street) near E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and access modifications at the U.S. 98/ Muhammad Ali Way intersection. The project includes closing the eastbound merger of E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard on eastbound U.S 98. The southeast quadrant of the intersection at U.S. 98 and Muhammad Ali Way will be modified to allow commercial trucks to access eastbound U.S. 98 as an alternate route. In addition, northbound Easy Street will be modified to only allow left turns onto E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. All other turning movements within the limits of these improvements will be maintained. This access modification is expected to reduce conflict points and improve overall safety.
A public meeting will be held pursuant to Chapter 335.199, Paragraph (3), Florida Statutes, on July 28, 2026. A notification will be sent with details about the meeting, including the date, time, location, and other relevant information.
