Proposed Revision to Traffic Calming Guidelines
body
BRIEF OVERVIEW
On May 24, 2022, the Department of Public Works presented to the Board of County Commissioners a traffic calming policy which included the development of the Traffic Calming Guidelines (TCG). The guidelines included the processes for studies to be conducted, the approval by the residents and the Board of County Commissioners (if needed) and the installation of the traffic calming devices.
After the acceptance and implementation of the guidelines, it was recommended that the guidelines be brought back to the Board to discuss any changes or revisions to the guidelines.
It has been determined that the petition process for inclusion into the TCG program should be revised. Any traffic calming petitions must be on letterhead from the President of the Homeowner’s Association (HOA) if applicable and if there isn’t an established HOA in the area of the traffic calming request, a minimum of five (5) homes on the subject street must petition for inclusion into the TCG program.
