BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Annual Certifications and Assurances for FY 2023 were published by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) on January 27, 2023. As a recipient of federal funding for transit, operations, and capital, Hernando County has 90 days from the date of publication to submit the executed Certifications and Assurances to FTA.
In accordance with 49 U.S.C. 5323(n), each applicant for Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funding assistance required to provide a series of Certifications and Assurances that the funding recipient complies with federal laws. The County Attorney has reviewed the documents and affirmed that the Board has sufficient authority under State and local laws to certify compliance with the FY 2023 Certifications and Assurances.

A matter of policy. The Certifications and Assurances required by the Federal Transit Administration to receive federal funding for transit.
LEGAL NOTE
The Board has the authority to take the recommended action pursuant to Chapter 125, Florida Statutes and 49 USC, Chapter 53.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached FY 2023 Certifications and Assurances and authorize the Development Services Director to execute this document in the Federals Transit Administration’s electronic systems as required.
